Development in technology is making conventional incandescent light bulbs almost obsolete. There are two upcoming lighting technologies that are poised to replace incandescent light bulbs the soonest and these are light emitting diodes (LEDs) and compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs). The lighting industry key players must take more emphasis on the evolution of further lighting metrics which may forecast and detect failures which might occur in the lighting fixtures. They should also develop products that are powers surge resistant so as to avoid the abnormalities that are caused by such surges.
Color shift in lighting fittings has been a big issue in the lighting technology. There is a greater urge for the lighting industry to develop product which has color equilibrium, reliable and longer-lasting.
